What the current Permafrost platform listing says
The current Steam listing names Windows as the platform and gives October 9, 2026 as the planned Early Access date. A Windows listing describes the published PC target; it does not by itself confirm Steam Deck or Linux compatibility.
- Listed platform: Windows.
- Planned Early Access date: October 9, 2026.
- Steam Deck compatibility: not confirmed in the project records checked on August 31, 2026.
- Linux support: not confirmed in the project records checked on August 31, 2026.
Is Permafrost playable on Steam Deck or Linux?
There is no verified Steam Deck or Linux support announcement in the current project record. That is an unconfirmed status, not a claim that Permafrost cannot run. Likewise, the lack of a Linux platform entry does not establish how the game will behave on SteamOS or a Linux desktop after Early Access begins.
How to check Permafrost compatibility after release
Recheck the live store page after the October 9, 2026 Early Access launch and record any platform wording or Steam Deck compatibility label shown there. Keep the date and game build with the result, because Early Access information can change.
- Read the Steam page’s platform and compatibility information for the released build.
- Install the released build on the device you want to use and record whether it launches to the game menu.
- Record the build number, display result, text readability, input behavior, and suspend/resume result without turning one test into a universal guarantee.
- If you also check a Linux desktop, record the distribution and the same game build separately from the Steam Deck result.
- Recheck after updates before treating a compatibility result as current.
What this page does not claim
This guide does not publish a Proton result, performance or FPS number, controller verdict, or Linux installation workaround. It also does not label Permafrost Unsupported or Verified on Steam Deck. Those claims require a first-party status or a reproducible release-build check.
