Launch-day updatePermafrost Map and Exploration Guide
Steam confirms a frozen open world where city ruins fade into wilderness and faction-controlled territories shape exploration. The map page is ready for locations, but does not invent coordinates.

Confirmed map layers
The official description names frozen cities, wilderness, faction-controlled territories, abandoned shelters, and broken machines. It also says progress is earned through exploration and adaptation.
- City ruins and urban scavenging routes.
- Wilderness travel and exposure risk.
- Faction territories and their navigation constraints.
- Shelters and machines as progression anchors.
Map data standard
Every marker added after launch should include a screenshot, approximate coordinates or a named landmark, access condition, resource category, and weather note. A map without an evidence state becomes a rumor board quickly, especially in Early Access.
Not yet verified
No location names, map size, coordinates, faction borders, or shelter positions are published here ahead of hands-on testing.
